I wrote my book this past year and as I was doing my book reveal, I made this funny phrase that happened to be if I did it, you can did it too. Let me explain what that is all about.
Do you have writer’s block? Do you struggle with procrastination when it comes to your writing or the time? Do you often feel worried or doubtful about your writing with every click of the keyboard? I will share easy ways for you to move beyond writer’s block, smash those self-sabotaging behaviors and finally stop procrastinating. It’s time for you to cultivate the right writer’s mindset and finish your fiction book now.
Let’s get started. Welcome to the podcast. So I have a little story for you. When I wrote my book Cattedy Knife Special insert shameless plug here I decided to do a book reveal. My package came in the mail. I was over the moon. I even had to pay the regular price for art because I was having a lot of trouble uploading to vendor sites. Something about uploading to vendor sites and Mercury in retrograde is not a good idea. That is a good bit of information for you to remember when you’re getting ready to publish your book. So, finally, my package was in my hands. I sat down and put the camera on, i got ready and here we go, let’s share it with the world. I didn’t know how I was going to react. I opened my package for the first time on camera, and I was beyond overwhelmed. I was in a state of joy, of excitement of this mind-boggling experience and there was also some fear and trepidation and, oh shit, i wrote a book.
I was kind of surprised when the tears started to flow and I got a little overwhelmed, a little recleamped and I really didn’t know what to say. Just to let you know, i will link the video of me opening up my package for my book in the show notes. You’ll just be going to finishyourfictionnow.com/episode05. I felt I needed to say something when I opened my book. I’m just one of those people who always want to share and take a moment That can be a sharing moment for somebody else, something that can maybe help to move or motivate you to do what you need to do, which is write your book. Because it was such an inspiring moment, i basically said if I did it. You can did it too. And then I giggled because I thought it was funny.
Now, being the smarty pants, all the smart ass I am, i was going to put it as my outro, my comment at the end of my podcast, but I figured people would think number one is a typo. Number two what am I doing? Not spelling something right? Perfectionists would have a twitchy moment. I’d actually have a twitchy moment and I’m not a perfectionist, but I do like to use it at times because it number one, it came from a good place. It came from a rare a rare, no, a real and very open place where there was some vulnerability. I also like to use it because it’s not perfect and it just shows that moments can just be moments.
You can have fun moments and fun writing your book and you can be inspired and you can just be you and it is perfectly okay.
You don’t have to put a face or a mask on for anybody. You’re allowed to be who you are, with all your imperfect imperfections.
Now there is one more thing I want to add. I know it can get frustrated sometimes when you’re struggling and when you’re really trying to write and you have somebody else saying no, but you can do it too. I did it and you kind of roll your eyes and go please knock it off, shut up, i don’t want to hear you. I get like that sometimes too.
I work with mentors because I truly believe that every writer should have a mentor, every coach should have a mentor, every hypnotist should have a mentor. Continue on and on. I work with mentors and some of my mentors are making a lot of money like Boku amount of money and I kind of look at them when they’re saying to me but you can do it too, and I kind of want to just, you know, put them in my book. I write murder mysteries, but I also know it is coming from a good place and I realize that when I said it, because I never knew I could write a book, i tried so many times to get my book out into the world and every time it just didn’t work.
I’m telling you, i’m no different than you. I truly believe that if you were listening to this podcast, if you were doing your best to get out of your head, working on your mindset, and you are writing your book you will finish, step by step. We have to take steps to walk from A to B. We need to take steps to write one paragraph in one chapter, and the only way that you can fail in writing your book is if you don’t write your book. So I hope that helps and I hope that you are inspired because, i will say it one more time and I am no different than you I have my struggles, i have my issues, i have my anxieties, i have my worries, but if I did it, you can did it too.
